SHUKLA,
PROPRIETOR OF MALA PRESSURE GARMENTS
Mala Pressure Garments is a proprietary concern, started
by Ms. Mala Shukla in 1985. At an early age fascinated
by making implants and external prosthesis (ear, nose,
fingers, toes, etc.) for accident victims as well as for
cosmetic surgery. She took early training as medical prosthetician at the Jaslok Hospital. She then took
training under the famous plastic surgeon Dr. Swaran
Arora at Sir J J Hospital and Grant Medical College,
Mumbai; over five years as a prosthetician. During this
period she started designing pressure garments for Burns
patients. She further learnt the intricacies of these
garments from Dr. M H Keswani and for Cosmetic Surgery
under Dr. Vijay Sharma. Dr. Arora acts as a medical
advisor to the firm of Mala Pressure Garments.
The Pressure garments
designed, manufactured and fitted by Ms Mala Shukla
under the trade name Mala Pressure Garments fulfill
all the criterion of pressure therapy medically indicated
and desired. Pressure garments are made for various
surgeries and medical conditions. The garments initially
made with JOBST Nylon based Lycra proved to be uncomfortable
in hot Indian summers. Ms. Shukla with her untiring
zeal and innovative aptitude, after over 10 years of
research and clinical trials has developed Cotton Lycra
which is much more comfortable to use in Indian hot
climate. Ms Mala Shukla has
innovated a new combination of synthetic and cotton
lycra which has cotton in the inside and synthetic lycra
externally designed for the comfort of wearing the garment
continuously with the effective pressure maintained
over the area producing better results.
It has
been her experience with clinical trials conducted &
proper patients records maintained that the effect of
pressure exerted by Cotton Lycra is superior to that
with the Nylon Lycra.
