Ready Made Pressure Garments are available in Cotton Lycra
Since the Lycra material used for pressure garments loses
it's elasticity with continuous use (as is indicated)
a garment needs to be tightened after a few weeks & more
so if the garment is being used for oedema, once oedema
starts reducing the garment becomes loose. Pressure garments
if made with a zip (as per patient's requirement & request)
have an inbuilt mechanism (with two or three layers of
hooks & the zip) where patient himself can tighten a garment
at least for 4 to 6 weeks. After that it has to be altered.
If worn for a longer period, once the garment loses it's
elasticity it becomes ineffective & will require replacement.
TO GET MAXIMUM OUT
OF YOUR GARMENT
1. Wear it 24 hrs a day
two sets of garments are preferred - one to wash and
dry and the other one to wear
2. Extra strength by double locking system with hooks
& zips is provided in majority of the garments.
3. Extra padding
helps to loosen or tighten the garment as per requirement.
4. Clean the garment daily
5. Remove the garment for a 30 to 40 minutes period
twice daily for bathing and lubricating the area.
6. Hand -wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent
soap & air-dry the garment.
7. Dry it at room temperature and not near fire, never
with a hot iron., nor in a drier
8. Fabric is affected by an oily based solution. Hence
it changes its colour with longer use.
9. With continuous use for 3-4 months, the garment will
loose it elasticity, hence it will require replacement.
10. If any doubt about the correct fitness of the garment
i.e. tightness or otherwise, don't cut it but get it
altered.
11. After sales service i.e. periodical tightening if
& when required, alterations are provided.
During hot summer months for the comfort of the patients,
garment made from cotton Lycra are provided. Garments
are also made from Soft Lycra. Uniform & calculated
pressure exerted by the pressure garments meets the
requirement of most of the surgical procedures. The
garments exert equalized pressure over all requisite
areas while still permitting comfort, mobility & muscular
movements.
